Latin Language for the First Time at the Eurovision: In corpore sano (Konstrakta)
Eurovision Song Contest attracts great attention and huge audience every year. During the broadcast of the two semi-finals and the main event, we get to know different details related to this popular competition.
It is interesting that for the first time at the Eurovision Song Contest, there are verses in Latin in one of the songs. The song is performed by Serbian representative - Konstrakta.

The title of the song is In Corpore Sano, which is part of the Latin proverb Mens sana in corpore sano, and it means "A healthy mind in a healthy body", or "A healthy spirit in a healthy body".
In the last stanza of Konstrakta's song, we hear the following verses:
Mens infirma in corpore sano
Animus tristis in corpore sano
Mens desperata in corpore sano
Mens conterrita in corpore sano
The translation of the verses is the following:
„A sick mind in a healthy body
A sad soul in a healthy body
A desperate mind in a healthy body
A frightened mind in a healthy body“
Have you noticed the entering verse Onas eroproc ni amrifni snem and have you tried to grasp the meaning?
If you failed, we’ll help you. This is also Latin, but in reverse, and it says Mens infirma in corpore sano (A sick mind in a healthy body).
Konstrakta has raised serious and important topics with her performance. However, in the spirit of joy and optimism of the Eurovision Song Contest, we wish you a healthy spirit in a healthy body, as well as a healthy body along with a healthy mind.
We wish all the best to Konstrakta at the Eurovision Song Finals. We cheer for Konstrakta and Serbia!
